About Us

Who we are, where we come from, and where we're headed as a church family

Who We Are

Immanuel Church is a Biblically-driven church that seeks to be used by God to help fulfill the Great Commission. Our desire is not only to teach what Jesus and the Biblical authors said, but do what they did as well. God used them to impact the world in one generation. God used ordinary people to do extraordinary things.

Our History

Immanuel Church began as Alta Vista Mission in 1916. In 1919, it was renamed to Government Hill Baptist Church. Finally in 1922, our church became Immanuel Baptist Church.

Our Vision

To glorify God by producing as much fruit as possible (disciple-makers) through the implementation and fulfillment of the Great Commission. This is found in the following two verses:

John 15:8 says, “This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.”

Matthew 28:18-20 says, And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

Our Beliefs

We believe Immanuel Church is part of the body of Christ here on Earth.

We acknowledge Jesus as head of the church and rely upon his atoning sacrifice for justification.

We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God and is the rule and guide to our faith and practice.

We are committed to being faithful witnesses for Jesus Christ that others may come to accept Him as their personal Lord and Savior.

We are dedicated to teaching and discipling everyone to grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ.
